Yes, Cadillac Just Showed Off Its 2016 CT6 Flagship Sedan In The ‘Daring: No Regrets’ Ad

No, your eyes aren’t aren’t playing tricks on you: Cadillac did, in fact, just show the world the upcoming Cadillac CT6 full-size luxury sedan during its The Daring: No Regrets commercial that first aired during the 87th annual Oscars ceremony.

During the ad, a white car driving on a city street is first shown through a reflection at 0:41 seconds. Seconds later, the viewer is presented with an up-close shot of the car’s multi-spoke wheel. But the money shot comes at 0:49 seconds, when the Omega-based CT6 shows its face.

At first, a white vehicle featuring an evolution of Cadillac’s signature vertical LED lights emerges from the the foggy city street. As the vehicle moves forward, the driver’s-side front three-quarter view comes into focus. That’s when it hit us: this is the 2016 Cadillac CT6! The car continues to move forward to reveal a stylish side profile with a rising upper character line on which the door handles are placed. It drives past the camera as Cadillac’s Dare Greatly slogan fades onto the screen.

Watch for yourself, and check out the pictures.

  1. Absolutely beautiful! Even if it’s just a 10 second clip! Yes, it looks like a full-sized CTS. But I suppose we shouldn’t have expected anything less. It’s sleek, modern, and most importantly, CADILLAC! If this doesn’t move the needle for the brand I don’t know what will….

March 31st can’t come soon enough! I want to see more!!!

    1. I get it looks similar to the CTS, but this car has a whole different aura about it. It seems lower and wider. Just an overall more powerful stance. Im eager to see the rear end and 3/4ths view as i hope this is where the car is going to shine. Not to mention the interior, powertrain, and tech. All that is just as important as design.

    2. I wanted to love the car,but cannot. I was a Cadillac enthusiast since a tiny child ! And yes I am under 50. But I just so not like them, the last 20 years ! ,including Cadillac hangers on who do! The DTS was ‘passable ‘,and I own one. The new design is bold in the front, but the side, sculpting lines are an afterthought to thin out the high belt line. The pillars in the rear looks like an Infiniti, and very generic. The trunk tapers off into those stale 1965 lights ! Cadillac needs a bold sweep along the side and rear . What’s with the head lights ? It looks like its weeping, and some bulbs are out .. the dark spots the turn signals ? They need to “DARE GREATLY”. All I remember about the add is a women pulling back her dreads, and a small man jumping for no reason ! The thunderstorm is corny, and the shots look a nightmare… portends for things to come ! The C- 6 (It sounds like an appliance -blender,or dish washer) will flop I assure you all. I showed it to 7 people, and like me,loved it at first, and second glance HATED it ! It actually made us all mad ! How stupid can a company be. Hey Cadillac,I really think you should quit . Your OVER !

      1. If you honestly think the DTS is a better looking car than this you need to get your eyes checked.

^ I like this part because it’s the LEAST believable.

For all of the countless teasers for cars I’ve seen over the years, never have any of them made me mad. Disinterested, aroused, intrigued, but not mad. You’re acting like Cadillac insulted your mother or something, and that you PERSONALLY need to have your jimmies unrustled.

Like Cadillac cares about your feelings, or your DTS, or what you think of the CT6.

“It made us mad! I’m not very happy about that! I want an apology! NOW!”

  2. It’s like other current Cadillacs. Awesome front end, then so-so side and back. It would be nice if they took a bit more risk with styling on those parts. It does look good enough to sell some, though.

    1. Well they tried a different rearview look with the CTS Coupe and people are still howling about it.
I like it. I think that rear is very distinctive. I do agree that the newer Cadillacs have very uninspired back sides.

    2. How can you see the back? One of my coworkers said he could “already tell ” what the back looked like because he could see the side and that he worked at a collision shop lol… so what’s ur magic way of seeing. Back?

  3. This is not the home run ball here but it will be a solid triple.

This car will advance Cadillac and sell and what is exciting this is still the old Cadillac here.

The advertising is much better than the ATS.

They are finally headed down the right path.

  6. ABSOLUTELY AWEFUL…. Now come on guys and ladies. This is just another design boring knockoff of the cts and ats designs. As we can all see they are not selling at all, major sales flops unless they put money on the hood. I took a group of 5 of us – 2 guys and 3 ladies to a BMW dealership, Mercedes, Audi and Cadillac. They rated the BMW as 1st design wise and interior, Audi came in second, Mercedes 3rd and Cadillac dead last. They absolutely hated the Cadillac boring, blocky design language. It just not engage people, or lure them in. A car design needs to speak to its buyers and lookers, it needs to compel them to own it, want it, dream about it. Once again you will see a monstrous sales flop. Cadillacs design language needs to be more fluid, with sharper creases. Right now its a block with creases in the wrong areas. Come on GM look what you did with you last Buick Showstopper Concept Car the Avenir. Look at that design for more direction of what Cadillac could be – ,more fluid with creases. That’s why Avenir won best of show, people loved it.

Now its time for Cadillac to move forwards with a new design direction, come out with a show car Concept that blows us away like the Buick Avenir did, go get that best of show award. That’s what GM needs to aim for. Right now this Art and Science design language is not resonating with consumers. Yes some of you defend it, but when it came down to it to purchase a luxury car yourself none of you would take any current Cadillac over a BMW or Audi…

    2. Design is highly subjective. Let’s remember that first.

Second, Cadillac’s current design language is fine. It is resonating very well, contrary to your baseless comment. Show me one trust-worthy quantitative example that shows that consumers do not like the current implementation of Art and Science. Not your silly anecdotal example, but a real one. Go ahead, I’ll wait. Can’t? Thought so. Because it is simply not reality.

Snap back to reality: the reasons that Cadillacs are selling slower than usual are threefold:
      1. Weaker brand image (being fixed as we speak). Hence the ads and changes.
      2. Smaller portfolio than competitors.
      3. Lower incentives and weaker resale value.

It has nothing to do with design or product, which definitely in the top 3.

Ohh, look everybody! An unsubstantiated anecdote! The most valid form of evidence!

      1. Let’s just picture what ash is saying here. To do the “survey” among his 5 compatriots, she/he would have had to take the following steps:

        1. Create a survey with a quantitative rating scale
        2. Distribute said survey to friends
        – this is when they start looking at you a bit weird
        3. Go “dealer hopping” and religiously ask your friends to fill out the survey
        4. Collect the survey
        5. Tally up the results

Are you telling me you did all of this, ash? Or are you just making things up?

Now, let’s just assume that you did all that. My question to you is, how do you know that the brand didn’t influence your friends’ rating? In other words, would they still rate the vehicles the same if they badges were removed? Did they see the vehicles with their lights on (I ask because Cadillacs have some of the most attractive LED lighting elements out there). Did they look at base or top-of-the-line trim levels? These are just some of the questions I have about your highly-dubious anecdote.

    5. Your random anecdote is worthless, who knows if it’s even true. And quit mentioning the Avenir, because it’s the first good looking car Buick’s even had in who knows how long, and do you really even think that’s on Buick’s table of possibilities right now? No. And cadillac DID have a concept that blew everyone away. The Elmiraj and Ciel. Duh. Buick is far from close to making that car, but cadillac is definitely closer to making the Elmiraj. It’s about rite now. The CT6 has style, power, beauty, luxury, flare and quality. And who do you THINK you are telling me what “people” would rather have? I’d be WAY happier owning a CT6 than any 7 series, S class, or A8 any day. Sorry pinhead, but thanks for playing.

  7. I jumped to my feet telling my girlfriend I think thats the CT6 ! It looks wider and lower to the ground and I like that the wheels fill the wheel wells . A glimpse of the rear , the usual tail fin like design but I thought the decklid design might look a bit like Buicks recent concept car ( Avenir {name?} ) . I do think the commercial was alright having the car come out of the fog slowly driving down what looked like a New York street . The car carries the face of Cadillac right now , and I see nothing wrong with that . Other manufacturers do the same thing German or domestic . anxious to see what is in side .
Its not a giant leap forward but lets see more before everybody starts to write it off as just a copy of a CTS .

    1. Your book is not well-written and is of bad taste. Though styling is subjective, the CT6 is gorgeous. But you probably think that the 7 Series, LS, S-Class, and A8/S8 aren’t that attractive either..

And while we’re at it, let’s leave Buick’s design language to Buick.

  10. Matt, I read my comments. Sorry, I meant the other cars are so-so on the side and back and this one is so-so on the side but I have no pretense about knowing the styling on the back. I do predict it will much like the others though. But, the interior and tech will also determine a lot about how well this car sells. Advance notice indicated those will be great, so hopefully that will hold true.

    1. I personally am a fan of the “side’ styling (as you put it) of the ATS, CTS, and this CT6. What’s not to like? What cars do you consider to be better styled from the side profile?

    2. i think the back may be a little bit more elmaraji well see though.. hope it doesnt look to much like cts from back.. what made me notice this wasnt a CTS was the dlr strips those things go waaaaay far down the front before being seperated by body. none of the other cadillacs go that low yet

  11. Sorry. I know this is a GM website largely attended by gmc kidd. I can’t help but think however (and I say this as a Cadillac and Chevrolet man), that Cadillac is missing Lincolns boat here. Along with that of BMW. Their new president keeps calling this so called 112 year old ‘company’ a brand. Brands, brands, brands…. blah. How about a Real and Legitimate Company again? Cadillac like Chevrolet has become nothing but a fake marketing channel of GM/GMCorp. It’s not a real entity though I wish it was like the golden era of Cadillac Motor Company. Just like Chevrolet, ruined by GM/GMC.

    Reply
    1. Does being a “real” entity result in a better product?

Now, you can argue that it does. The only you way you can do that is to bring up “divisioning” — when each “brand” was a division. What does that do? It creates autonomy in direction, engineering, design, marketing, and other business operations. And a division is ultimately responsible for its own financial health, as a company would be. So from that perspective, a division is better than a “brand”.

Now, one could argue that the “new Cadillac” is a division within the New GM. It now makes its own decisions, its vehicles use their own platforms (and soon engines), it has its own designers, it defines its own marketing and it has its own headquarters. Soon, it will report its own financials. Perhaps you have some reading to do. Let’s start with these two:

  12. @ Ennis, though, not a Buick myself, I’d be far more inclined to buy one of the new Buick badged GM/GMC’s over the Cadillac or Chevrolet badged GM/GMC’s. Buick badged GM’s have been far better looking the last few years. That last buick badged concept was a beauty. These cadillac badged gm/gmc’s all look like multiplcations of the arts and science CTS.

My point still stands. They are all just badge jobs of GM/GMCorp cars/trucks/suv’s now. Not that I like it.

Your point does not stand, because it is at least half wrong.

What “badge job” is the Cadillac ATS and CTS of? How about the CT6?

We know about the XTS, SRX and Escalade… and those are the last remaining bastions of what Cadillac once was. We have been seeing less and less of this going forward.

Perhaps it’s time for you to rethink your “point”.

  13. Cadillac is 112 years old? Sorry GM began in 1908. Cadillac IS nothing but a GM. This is as laughable as GM saying Chevy is “Since 1911” lol. Ya right. And GM’s Buick is since 1899 or 1903 I bet? Sure. Those were real companies back then, long since dead. Heck, it’s legally been an even Motors Divisionless GM since what, 1983/4?.

    Reply
    1. “Cadillac IS nothing but a GM”.

      Ok, let’s try this:

“BMW is nothing more than a Bavarian Motor Works product”
“Rolls Royce is nothing more than a BMW”
“Mercedes is nothing more than a Daimler”
“Audi is nothing more than a VW”
“Lexus is nothing more than a Toyota”
“Bugatti is nothing more than a VW”
“Porsche is nothing more than a VW”
“Ferrari is nothing more than a Fiat”
“Infiniti is nothing more than a Nissan”
“Lamborghini is nothing more than a VW”

Some of these are actually given operational autonomy, like Cadillac was through the 70s and early 80s, and like it is being given today.

Seems like you’re out of your element on this one, bud.

    2. “Cadillac was formed from the remnants of the Henry Ford Company. After a dispute between Henry Ford and his investors, Ford left the company along with several of his key partners in March 1902. Ford’s financial backers William Murphy and Lemuel Bowen called in engineer Henry M. Leland of Leland & Faulconer Manufacturing Company to appraise the plant and equipment in preparation for liquidating the company’s assets. Instead, Leland persuaded the pair to continue manufacturing automobiles using Leland’s proven single-cylinder engine. A new company called the Cadillac Automobile Company was established on 22 August 1902.” – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadillac

      1902 + 112 = 2014
