Today, the idea of “speed” is very much watered down. With franchises like The Fast and the Furious and video games like Need For Speed, the raw look and feel of speed has become so distorted that videos like this set us back in awe.
Watching this twin turbo C6 Corvette, built by Vengeance Racing, shows how insane the top end of the speedometer really looks and even feels. The C6 Corvette took part in the WannaGoFast.com Half-Mile event in Georgia. This even is not a drag race, rather an event to top your car out and break the biggest speed at the end.
Therefore, you’ll see the driver of this C6 ‘Vette launch fairly soft off the line, a skill to squeeze out more power down the strip and not blow it in unnecessary wheelspin. The first few passes come out in the mid to high 180 mph mark, still incredible. But it’s not until the car’s last pass that the driver says he “drove it like he was pissed off” where he cracks 203 mph.
With that run, he took home the fastest rear-wheel drive vehicle award at the event, dispatching Toyota Supras, Chevy Camaros and other Corvettes.
Take a look at the runs below, and let yourself realize how fast 203 mph really is.
