Chances are pretty strong that you’ve seen this one already, making its rounds on the internet; a Volvo 740 into which some berserk Swedes have swapped a potent, built V8. Speed Society shared the video on their Facebook page just last week.
But Speed Society made a rather unsubstantiated claim about the car that we have a hard time believing; namely, that the V8 powering this Volvo 740 has a 740 cubic-inch displacement. We may not be physicists over here at GMAuthority, but we have to believe that if this Volvo had a 740 big block, the result would likely be a twisted frame, broken propeller shaft, loss of life, and perhaps the conjuring of the great Beelzebub himself. And since the Swedish-English language barrier is very real, we could forgive the Speed Society folks for believing that the model number was, in fact, the engine’s displacement.
Instead, a little birdie told us, this Volvo 740 is powered by a built 350 small block, out of a C4 Corvette. That, too, is hearsay, so we really can’t make any sort of satisfactory identification of the beast protruding from this Swedish saloon’s bonnet. That leaves us to speculate wildly for the time being, although if any of our readership happens to know Swedish, perhaps they could fill us in.
