Hot Rod Garage Builds A 711 Cubic-Inch Chevy-Hemi V8

It seems sacrilegious to introduce parts from a Mopar Hemi engine to a Chevrolet big block motor, but that’s exactly what the guys at Hot Rod Garage have done in their season finale episode.

The engine at its closest will be a standard Chevrolet big block, while heads from a Hemi will top off the engine and the monstrous build. Seems irrational, but car guys are always in the pursuit of power, no matter how much they have to chop and rebuild from other vehicles. And sometimes we get incredible things like this.

When all is said and done, the engine was rated at 711 cubic-inches, which is American for roughly 11-liters. Not only is the displacement gargantuous, but the power it produces matches the figure. The engine was dyno tested during the episode and revealed a 1,225-horsepower figure. We could think of a few things that would be mighty fun with 1,225 hp…

After the build is set and finished, it is revealed Sonny Leonard Racing Engines will be fabricating a custom turbo kit for the engine. Yes, that’s right, the original horsepower number was all naturally aspirated. No word on what the guys are shooting for with the turbo kit, but we’re pretty sure the sky is the limit with this build.
