The Cadillac SRX is much overdue for a redesign. That’s one of many things on Cadillac’s to-do list, and recent reports suggest the SRX’s replacement will debut in the Big Apple during the New York Auto Show.
Motor Trend cites unknown sources as the little birdie whispering in their ear saying not only will the Cadillac SRX’s replacement arrive in New York, but it will be the first crossover in the brand’s lineup to adopt the new XT_ naming scheme. It’s almost a given the next SRX will indeed ditch its current name in favor of the XT and a numerical digit. As of now, it seems XT5 will be the designation, leaving plenty of room for smaller and larger crossovers to come.
Despite the new reports, we’re pretty confident The XT5 will sit the Big Apple out in favor of the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show, leaving the spotlight solely for the highly-anticipated 2016 Cadillac CT6 full-size sedan. Only recently has the crossover been spied testing, and looking sheepish towards cameras with plenty of camouflage and body cladding to cover up its styled lines.
It only makes sense to let the Cadillac CT6 be the star of Cadillac’s show, instead of splitting the limelight between the two. The CT6 is a very important product, and we’d bet Cadillac wants to make sure everyone in attendance knows the CT6 is in the building, and not be distracted — no matter how minor — by a new crossover rotating on a pedestal next to it.
Stay tuned, however, as we approach the 2015 New York Auto Show and more information is released on the CT6 and XT5.
