The Junior European Rally Championship season is upon us, and the ADAC Opel rally team is primed and ready to improve upon their second place finish in the 2014 season.
Those drivers eligible are born after 1988, and step into the junior rally league ready to prove themselves in capable rally machines within the RC4 category. The ADAC Opel team, featuring drivers Marijan Griebel and Emil Bergkvist, will pilot two Opel Adam R2 rally racers across six stages in the competition.
The 190-horsepower Adam R2 is primed for Griebal and Bergkvist to tackle Latvian snow, Irish asphalt and Azore’s gravel roads, in what they hope will improve upon their second place standing at the Barum Rally in the Czech Republic.
Griebel is accordingly optimistic saying in a statement, “In spite of the early start, we are going into the second season of the ADAC Opel Rallye Junior Team well prepared. Last year’s results show that we can hold our own against the competition in the ERC Junior. In the last months, we further developed not only the Adam R2, but also ourselves as a team.”
Bergkvist shares in the optimism, who advanced in the ADAC rally team after his title win at the ADAC Opel Rally Cup 2014. He hopes to further hone and improve upon his skills saying, “I learned so much in the ADAC Opel Rallye Cup. I’ll benefit from that in the ERC Junior. And as a Swede, I’m of course especially looking forward to the hopefully snowy races in Latvia.”
The ADAC Opel rally team will encounter two other Opel Adams within the competition, but ADAC Opel seems more than ready and willing to show what they’re made of. The season kicks off February 6th in Latvia.
