Opel Adam Wins Readers’ Choice Award In Germany For The Second Year

The Opel Adam just won its second consecutive “Readers Choice Award” from German magazine Auto Motor Und Sport in the mini category, as selected by votes from over 112,000 readers.

Of course, here in the United States, this is somewhat inconsequential news, as precisely none of us read Auto Motor Und Sport, and even fewer of us own an Opel Adam. But given the recent revelation that General Motors has every intention of importing the mini hatchback as a Buick model when the next-generation car launches around 2018, we can at least permit ourselves a bit of excitement.

It’s also a refreshingly positive sign about the state of affairs for General Motors’ German brand. The Opel Adam captured 29.8 percent of the votes in its category, even more than last year’s 24.2 percent. Opel Vice President of Sales Peter Christian Küspert said of the award: “The ADAM is a real winner. That is not just our opinion. 112,000 Auto Motor Und Sport readers from 15 countries and 130,000 customers from all around Europe who decided to buy our lifestyle car obviously agree.

  1. Beautiful car that could spawn an entire line up including a large Ford Flex style SUV.
I love MINI but Adam is also beautiful. In the US this car should be sold as the Buick Opel so that an Opel family, including Corsa, can be formed.

  2. It’s ok having variations but not too many wouldn’t want to over do it or put all ones eggs in one basket market trends can change
