Holden has announced the winner of its naming contest for a special edition of the Commodore. The contest opened on January 9th and officially closed a week later with over 4,000 entries on what Holden should call the newest special edition of the Commodore SV6.
The winning name? Lightning. The Holden Commodore SV6 Lightning will be available in Q2 of this year, and features a few design tricks setting it apart from its other production Commodores. Special edition features include unique badging, special edition aluminum wheels, aluminum sport pedals and other visual cues to set it apart.
The winner of the contest has been notified via Facebook, and will receive a 2015 Holden Commodore SV6 Lightning for one week from their local Holden dealer. The more tangible asset to winning the competition is a signed sketch of the special edition vehicle by Holden’s head design director, Richard Ferlazzo. Not to mention, every time you see a special edition Commodore, you can point to the badge and say you named it.
Holden has been on a blitz of consumer input as of recent, mostly regarding the Commodore as it garners as much input as possible from the Australian public on what they want from the full-size sedan well into the future. For now, the Aussie consumers at large can expect the Lightning to hold them over until more news on a 2018 Holden Commodore is released.
