Future Opel Astra Spied, This Time With Production Lights

The coming Opel Astra K has been spotted testing numerous times now, but this is the first incidence where we get to see what production headlamps and taillights ought to look like.

Opel said, “let there be lights.” And it was good.

The full gallery of spy shots can be seen on the Car Scoops website, who note (quite rightly) that to see any measure of Opel Monza concept in this new Astra demands quite an elastic imagination. But the production lamps have some very savory looking sculpture about them. Overall, the car has obviously similar proportions to its predecessor, though it ought to feel more lively owing to the Delta platform’s successor. That move could enable it to lose 200 pounds or more.

Car Scoops also reports that the interior of the new Opel Astra ought to see a breadth of higher quality, more upscale touches, and a premium-looking design. Previous spy shots revealed a less-cluttered center console, with far fewer physical buttons to complicate the controls.

No powertrain options have been confirmed as of yet, but we’re at least expecting a 1.0-liter turbo three-cylinder (from the Corsa), as well as a 1.4-liter turbo-four option.

  1. We will never see Monza or Buick Rivera cues on a car so pedestrian. Also, the Opel-Buick partnership seems to be having somewhat if an identity crisis with the not Mark Adam’s Aveair (or as I call it, the canceled Commodore project.)
I’m beginning to think that both Opel and Buick will have disjointed lineups.

    1. Then you might have a lack of realism! Opel and Buick are linked.
Opel will not offer a premium/luxury class car like the Avenir(sic!). Although you might be blind if you don’t see the Monza design in the Avenir concept!

Next Verano and Astra are co developed in Germany, both will have different design as it was announced 2 years ago!

Next Holden Commodore/Opel/Vauxhall/Buick Insignia will be the same car, maybe also with differnet design! So whats the problem? Opel announced that this next gen Insignia will reflect the Monza design.

      So what’s your issue?
