To help ease the task of searching for reliable classics, USA Today via ClassicCars.com compiled a list of vehicles from a wide range of makes and model years, with the first-generation Chevrolet Camaro ranked as first, along with its lifelong rival, the Ford Mustang.
Contrary to many other lists, where the V8 Camaro and Mustang variants dominate the minds and desires of many auto enthusiasts young and old, this particular top 10 list eschews that trend and highlights the lesser-noticed inline-six versions of the iconic American sports cars. While they may not exactly stand out in the minds of collectors as much as their drag-strip-dominating siblings, they still have the classic eye catching looks that appeal to discerning tastes. And unlike the V8 models, ClassicCars.com claims that the six cylinder examples offer a more affordable package for enthusiasts in terms of simpler hardware and everyday reliability. ClassicCars.com suggests finding a six cylinder convertible of either model (we prefer the Camaro) with an automatic transmission which would be the perfect mode of transportation for weekend trips to the beach or a scenic drive down a twisty road.
Other models featured on the list included full-sized late 1970’s and early 1980’s Oldsmobiles, Pontiacs and Mercurys, and 1970’s trucks like the blue-collar Chevrolet CK and Ford F-Series.

I would not be surprised that if you asked 50 North Americans which Camaro model they would like to own , right now , there would be definitely more votes for a newly manufactured and re-equipped 1967 model .
Um, there were no v6 camaros then, they were straight inline 6 bangers,230 and 250 cu inch, although Firebird had the sprint 6 inline and a four barrel version too, with a timing Belt
The Sprint was the 4bbl. OHC-6. The 1bbl. version didn’t receive the Sprint name.
