The “Make Your Mark” short film competition held by Cadillac, along with the Producers Guild of America, has reached its conclusion. The winning entry can be viewed below. It depicts a heartfelt story about a boy gathering friends and family together to use sound and artwork to recreate a trip to the beach for the boy’s bedridden grandfather.
The #MakeYourMark competition was put on by Cadillac and the PGA to encourage the next generation of great film producers. It honors celebrated Producer Saul Zaentz (Amadeus, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest), who passed away in January, 2014. Contestants in the competition were given 51 hours to shoot, edit and submit a short film.
Of all those entries, the best three were selected as finalists, and the producers of those films were paired with a PGA mentor to refine their work into a polished three-to-five minute long piece. The winning entry will be featured in Cadillac’s 30-second TV spot this February 21st during the Oscars.
The winning short shown below is a beautifully shot, vivid auditory and visual experience – all hallmarks of good production, and these values help truly bring the touching story to life. But that’s not just our opinion; judges of the #MakeYourMark competition included Danny DeVito and Michael Douglas.
