With all the hubbub on the 2015 Corvette Z06, the last-gen ZR1 seems to have been forgotten, but how could 638+ horsepower be consigned to oblivion? Powered by a supercharged 6.2L small-block LS9, the ZR1 was produced from 2009-2013 until the C7 Corvette hit the streets. We don’t know if Chevrolet will bring a ZR1 variant to the C7, but with performance like this car at the Texas Speed Syndicate Quick 30 event, we can only hope.
Looking at the below video, you can see the ZR1 violently launching into a 9.68 ET at 150.26 mph with some Mickey Thompsons out back. If the ZR1 was available with an automatic, do you think the ZR1 could dip into the 8s?
We know that for each successive generation of Corvette, it ends up having the performance of the previous-gen Z06. So could it be said that the C7 Z06 really the C6 ZR1 incarnate?
