The C2 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray is one of the most sought after Corvette generations for collectors. After all, things only got better after the C1’s introduction. The C2 Corvette became more like a comeback kid than a sophomore slump. If you’re the kind of person who’s looking for a project, we may have found the perfect C2 Corvette.
Currently listed on eBay for $16,000, this 1963 Chevrolet Corvette looks more rat-rod than street machine, but it definitely has potential. Allow us to explain.
The Corvette has been parked since 1981, so an original 51,000 miles reads on the odometer. Admittedly, this won’t be something a collector is looking for since the OEM heart of this C2 Corvette has been replaced. Lacking the correct engine, a 1970 350-cubic inch V8 sits in its place, and the factory transmission has been replaced with 1970 unit with a Hurst shifter kit. Original drum brakes remain and, according to the seller, still work properly. With some work time, the car could definitely be a cheap weekend toy. It would take some time to bring it back to factory or even show car looks.
The seller admits this, but proclaims he has everything needed to begin the rebuild process, including bumpers and side-exhaust covers. The Corvette is completely documented including the original VIN. With a proper committed buyer, this Corvette could be one boss machine again. For more, visit the listing here.
