Buick Avenir Coupe Rendered

You already know that the Buick Avenir concept explores a flagship Buick sedan. But what if the flagship sedan had a coupe variant?

Our mad rendering artists modified the Avenir’s gorgeous lines to have two doors, and the result is nothing short of splendid. The coupe still has the great proportions that make the sedan so gorgeous thanks to short overhangs, a long hood, and a salubrious axle-to-dash ratio.

We don’t see a reason that Buick can’t offer a two-door coupe variant alongside the Avenir four-door sedan… or whatever it ends up being called in production. Heck, it sold the Riviera from 1995 to 1999, which was essentially a two-door Park Avenue.

What do you think of the rendering, and would you like to see an Avenir coupe become a reality? Comments are right below.

  1. Yes and add a Convertable and Call it Riviera. Not only does Buick need this But GM needs this if the are going to move Cadillac up in class Buick needs to fill the void.

  2. I have seen spy pics of the new 2016 Lacrosse and even though it has camo it definitely has some cues from the Avinir but in a FWD platform.

    1. It has some Avenir but also some A7 too.

  3. I have no issue with the coupe idea but not this lame photo shop you have here.

Put a reconfigured roof line similar to the Bentley GT and you might have something. Lower and sleeker not this bulbous thing you have here.

The green house is too long as is the door. Clean it up and make the B pillar invisible with a reduced quarter window.

    1. I think it looks gorgeous, just like a full size coupe should. Build it!

      1. Scott3 to the rescue again, proving that styling is subjective.

On a more serious note, it’s a full-size coupe. Its purpose is space and comfort… not “lower” and “sleeker”. Hence the untouched full-size proportions of the rear windows and roof. Have you seen the Benz S-Class Coupe?

Also, have you actually seen or experienced the length of the door on the Camaro, Corvette or even the ATS Coupe? They’re all long. Same goes for the Bentley Continental GT.

  4. The idea has potential. Large cars are far from dead, as we see each year as mid sizers increase in size and while big SUVs continue to be popular.
GM just needs the right car. I’m also thrilled to see Buick restored to its rightful place as the ‘doctor’s luxury’. Cars luke Verano will never accomplish this.

  5. Love it. I’m actually thinking the coupe is better suited to the profile than the saloon is. I agree with Scott3 that the roof line needs reworking, as does the quarter window. Cheers!

  6. Don’t see them investing in a 2-door . GM axed coupes of their luxury cars years ago . Oldsmobiles 98 and 88 . Buicks LeSabre etc. The Olds Aurora was a sedan only and eventually the Cadillac CoupeDeVille went away .
In the Avenir I don’t see the back seat making it to a production model , maybe in the Chineses market but not here .
In a sedan you want a bench seat back there . Although if it came out in a coupe version then I could see it withe buckets in the rear .

    1. The rear seats from the Avenir concept are not production material. Maybe they’ll be available as an option, but definitely not as a standard feature.

GM “axed” the coupes because it tried to make them separate models, instead of simply making them 2-door versions of their sedan counterparts. Doing so added cost in development and in production. But they are coming back, as your can see with the ATS Coupe and Cascada (if you can call it luxury). And making a two-door version of the Avenir sedan, with some tweaks and changes here and there, shouldn’t be cost-prohibitive, while selling a handful to a high-profile and profitable market segment. So it can be done.

  7. Loved the coupe! It also needs a sizeable trunk for traveling. Hope to see this concept in the future.

  8. Nice!

Not all 2 door fans want a Camaro or a Corvette, something you can actually travel in. If Buick doesn’t want it, with a few minor changes, we could have a new Chevelle coupe and sedan. Would look good with the Impala name on it too. Impala SS anyone?

  10. Build a slick 2 door coupe model such as the Avista Concept and you will have a winner. Buicks present line is somewhat stodgy and unimporessive and your engineers better get with the times!!! If the Avista model comes out as described I will be first in line to purchase one.

  11. Still waiting…Nope, just bought a 1967 Electra 225 Custom Convertible. Sorry Buick, another customer lost.
