2015 Corvette Z06, 2016 Volt Win ‘Sexiest’, ‘Most Earth Friendly’ Vehicle Awards At NAIAS 2015

The Detroit News’ Readers’ Choice awards for the 2015 North American International Auto Show were presented during a special ceremony Tuesday, with the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 taking home the ‘Sexiest’ vehicle award, while the 2016 Volt took home the ‘Most Earth Friendly’ award.

More than 1,000 Detroit News readers applied to be judges for the Readers’ Choice awards, but only 100 were chosen. The lucky 100 toured the NAIAS 2015 floor at Cobo Hall for two hours, pored over the industry’s new sheet metal for 2015, and marked their top choices in the 10 different categories.

The 2016 Volt, with its more efficient 1.5-liter four-cylinder generator, lighter construction and increased 50-mile electric range was likely a no-brainer for the judges when deliberating over the ‘Most Earth Friendly’ award. It was one of the few all-new EV/hybrids unveiled at the show, and considering its mass-market appeal, we think it’s a fitting choice for the designation. It’s also easy to see why the Z06 was chosen for the ‘sexiest’, although our vote may have gone to the Buick Avenir Concept.
