1954 Chevrolet Corvette Nomad Wagon Might Be Blasphemy, Or Sheer Genius: eBay Find

There are two types of people on this planet: those who threw up upon seeing the above photo, and those who haven’t. This 1954 Chevrolet Corvette-Nomad for sale on eBay might just be the most polarizing thing since Bill Maher.

For those who can’t understand our trepidation: the first-generation Chevrolet Corvette is a cherished, beautiful thing – as is the Chevrolet Nomad wagon, in its own, rather different, right. Even if no example of either had to fall in order to make each of the eight examples of this Corvette Nomad, the stewards of automotive history will weep for the mockery they’ve endured.

It adds insult to injury that flashy modern touches like up-swing doors, Corvette ZR1 wheels, a heads-up display, and a contemporary Alpine stereo system have been added. This build seems to have gone from nuanced to tactless in a right hurry.

But for those who cringe at the thought: I mean, look at it! It’s like a Hotwheels designer’s fantastical, ungodly vision on a one:one scale! A supercharged LS1 provides 545 horsepower of grunt, and the Nomad rear somehow compliments the early Corvette nose in a way that Nostradamus himself couldn’t have foreseen. It looks slick, art-deco, and dare we say it? Sexy.

The interior looks plush and classical, with overstuffed red leather adorning everything. And we mean everything. So what if this car is a Frankenstein’s monster-like pastiche of timeless classics, with no solid footing in any particular decade of automotive history? We both know that your 10 year-old self wants this, and your adult self agrees.

  1. Pure Stupidity!

The only re body I have seen for the C6 that works is the 1963 re body. It looks good and not garish or cheap.

This is just one of those ideas that sounded good but never turned out as good as it seemed in their heads.
