If Hennessey’s HPE650 package for the 2015 GMC Sierra had you ready to pickup the phone and call the Texas-based tuners, we urge you to exercise patience. For those that carry around a few extra people more often than they do 2x4s and toolboxes, there’s now the HPE650 GMC Yukon Denali.
Because both vehicles use the same 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8, the Yukon uses the same parts as the Sierra to produce a claimed 665 horsepower at the crank. Boost comes from a 2.9-liter supercharger, which is backed up with a high flow intercooler, high flow cylinder heads and an HPE camshaft.
According to HPE, the HPE 650 Yukon will sprint from 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and complete the quarter-mile in 13.1 seconds at 110 mph. At those speeds, the 5500 lb SUV slices through the air with all the gracefulness of a small building, but you can’t argue with performance that could shame a lot of performance sedans. Just try to keep your fuel economy calculator out of sight and out of mind.
