Chevrolet and the 2015 Corvette Z06 were recently out at Road Atlanta, familiarizing the world’s automotive media with the 650 horsepower supercar. Cadillac Racing driver Andy Pilgrim also had a go in the car, posting a time of 1:29.88, which is an impressive feat for a road car.
Despite his fast time, Pilgrim may want to get some more seat time in the Z06 at Road Atlanta. Fellow General Motors factory driver, Corvette Racing’s Tommy Milner, managed to top his time in the Z06 around the road course with a 1:29.81. Milner probably feels a bit more comfortable in a Corvette considering he spent a good portion of this year behind the wheel of the C7.R, so we’re not all surprised he was a bit faster in the Z06 than Pilgrim or Motor Trend’s resident racing driver Randy Pobst.
The most impressive part about Milner’s lap is he managed to post an extremely fast time while also giving us an expert narration of the track and his driving techniques. I would like the Z06 with out the Z07 package tested around the track and also for its over all straight line acceleration. I just want to know if this car can eat the competition without all that downforce in a straight line acceleration.
