Pontiac GTO World Challenge Race Car: eBay Find

And so starts your racing career: for $65,000, you can get behind the wheel of a Pirelli World Challenge-run 2006 Pontiac GTO from Group-A Motorsports.

The car was run in the World Challenge GT class. Granted, it hasn’t raced in the PWC for some time; most recently, says the eBay listing, it ran in a number of NASA events, resulting in “a track record, 2 overall wins and 3 class wins, despite still having been in complete WCGT trim at the time.” And if you need spares for your racing season, no problem; the seller advertises the availability of packages with everything from the gearbox to the wheels, plus molds for each and every body part.

Those aren’t included in the $65,000 purchase price, though. This 2006 Pontiac GTO makes 600 peak horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque in its current World Challenge spec, managed by a MoTec ECU. And, “THERE IS [sic] TOO MANY SPARES TO LIST. Literally enough spares to build another car.”

Though, maybe eBay isn’t the ideal outlet for this car; less than 2 days remain on the listing at the time of this writing, and so far no serious motorsport enthusiast with $65,000 to burn has stepped up to the plate.

So, if you need to move some things around, talk to your people to make this deal happen, take your time; the car will likely be waiting.

  1. Reminds me of the Nations Cup Monaro Holden ran in 2002 and 2003. Although the Monaro ran a Hollinger six speed manual and a 427ci LS6. These cars came out of the workshop which now houses the factory backed Volvo V8 Supercar team (Garry Rogers Motorsport) and Peter Brock (an Australian touring car legend) raced one in 2003 including winning the Bathurst 24 hour.
