OnStar Santa Tracker Back For The Sixth Consecutive Year

OnStar is keeping the Christmas spirit alive in General Motors vehicles all over the United States, Canada and Mexico for the sixth consecutive year. Subscribers to the service will once again be able to press the blue button in their car to receive a GPS location of Santa’s whereabouts on Christmas Eve, referred to by OnStar as the “Santa Update.”

OnStar collaborates with the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) to track Santa and his sleigh. If you and the kids are in the car between 7 a.m. on December 24 and 5 a.m. on December 25, OnStar advisors will be able to tell you where Santa is based on NORAD’s official “Santa Tracker” map.

“My 2-year-old son has finally reached the age where he is excited about Santa,” said Keitha Martin, a GMC Acadia owner and OnStar subscriber. “This year we will be following Santa’s journey to deliver his gifts through OnStar. My husband and I are just as excited for this magical experience!”

Taking it one step further, OnStar has pledged to donate one dollar to the United Way for Southeastern Michigan for every Santa Tracker call they receive on Christmas Eve. And if you’re worried OnStar will be too busy tracking St. Nick to help you unlock the keys from your car or call you a tow truck, don’t be, their accommodating the extra calls by putting more than the usual number of advisors on duty that night.

“We are happy to provide our subscribers with a special way to get into the holiday spirit,” Terry Inch, OnStar chief operating officer, said in a statement. “OnStar’s advisors enjoy responding to these calls and helping make the season a little more joyous.”
