Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Takes In Mobil 1 From The Factory

If you were considering putting anything less than Mobil 1 synthetic oil in your 2014-15 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, don’t even think about it; Chevrolet has selected it as the official factory fill oil for the Z/28’s potent 7.0 liter V8.

Says Exxon Strategic Global Alliance Manager David Tsurusaki: “Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil is designed at the molecular level to provide outstanding protection against weather conditions, wear and sludge buildup and is a perfect choice for drivers that demand the most out of their high performance vehicles.”

“The two highest-performance Camaros – the Z/28 and the COPO Camaro drag car – feature Mobil 1 right from the factory,” he concluded. The announcement is hardly a surprise considering Mobil’s longstanding relationship with Chevrolet; ExxonMobil is a sponsor of the National Corvette Museum in Kentucky, and the new NCM Motorsports Park. Mobil has also been the factory-fill oil for the Corvette since 1993.

Chevrolet is recommending the use of Mobil 1 5W-30 synthetic motor oil for normal use in the Camaro Z/28, and 15W-50 for competitive and performance driving events.

  1. Oh but Dexos is just as good…

Ran Mobil1 syn in both my CTS’, and Mazda Speed6, switched to Penn UltraPlat in my new Silverado, same price and better oil by all third party test accounts.

  2. I run Mobil 1 in my CTS-V Coupe and it really is good oil. I was thinking of going with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, but GM endorses Mobil 1 and recommends it so highly in all their engines that I stuck with it. Mobil 1 is proven and has been around for 40 years now and has been factory fill by more automakers than any other oil. While Pennzoil Ultra Platinum may be a good oil, I think it is on par with Mobil 1 based on all the oil analysis I have seen on BITOG.com

You can’t go wrong with Mobil 1. I have been using it in all my cars for the last 20 years now.

  3. I have been using Mobil1 since 1981 in my wife’s 1980 Ford Mustang, when the cans were entirely made of polish metal (and the othere used cardboard cans). All my vehicles after the Mustang use Mobil 1 oil, replaced one a year, and their engines were like new after twenty years. Besides, one oil change only cost me $35 per vehicle each year, so I saved more money and treated my engines better than many others. When my 1995 Buick Regal passed 100,000 miles, I wrote to Mobil and asked if I had to switch to a different grade from 10W-30 and they answered that I can continue to use the same grade. Adter 145,000 miles I still use the same grade!
