LS-Powered Nissan 240SX Elevated From Ordinary To Supercar-Killer: Video

When in doubt, drop in a Chevy small block.

It’s timeless advice for us all to live by, and advice that was heeded by Motor Trend in the creation of their Nissan “240SS”. The car is essentially what it sounds like: a 1993 Nissan 240SX, plus a Chevrolet Performance 6.2 liter LS3 crate engine. Plus some other track-ready goodies.

In this episode of Motor Trend‘s Ignition series, presenter Carlos Lago takes the recently-completed budget Godzilla through some winding mountain twisties to get a feel for it. The conclusion? It’s “the best car in the world.”

“I might be a little biased because of the time I’ve spent working on it; maybe this is kind of what it feels like to be the father of a newborn. But this thing is the best thing I’ve driven,” says Lago. We’re certain this is simply exaggeration for dramatic effect. But then, it is a 2,800 pound car with about 430 HP.

The 240SS accelerates from 0 to 60 in a scant 4.1 seconds, and manages 1.02 G of lateral acceleration. Carlos Lago and gang found that it even takes the figure 8 quicker than the BMW M3, Porsche Cayman S, and unbelievably, the Ferrari 458.

Talk about bang for your buck. You can watch the full episode of Ignition below:

  1. I love this LS swaps into different cars, foreign or domestics.
