A stunning 1955 Chevrolet 3100 restoration modification is coming up for auction this weekend at Mecum Auctions in Austin, Texas. With a sparkling interior, sweet rake and new LS3 engine, this isn’t your granddaddy’s pickup.
The incredible restoration and modification took many of the best things from the 1955 model and improved on the powertrain to handle the beast under the hood. For example, the red leather interior has been meticulously retouched and looks spot on for the model with subtle changes. The dials, shifter on the floor and dash all seem to be a perfect match to that model year. However, there are slight improvements here with a chrome tilt steering column, custom touch-screen stereo, Lokar shifter and push-button start system.
On the exterior, the Aston Martin gray paint shines with the fully restored body panels. The grille, headlights and tailgate are all perfect matches to the production truck. There are slight modifications to the front end, hood, bed and bumpers. In the bed, the Mahogany colored oak bed with polished stainless hardware and straps has been fully restored and sparkles.
While the exterior and interior looks to be perfectly restored, this powertrain has been all upgraded. Besides the aforementioned LS3 engine, the truck features a 4L70E automatic transmission, C6 front suspension, Dana 44 rear end, Corvette Z06 brake system, power steering/brakes, chrome Street and Performance pulley system and custom Schott 18-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels.
This truck makes us incredibly sad we can’t be there in person to make a bid.
How much do you think it will go for?
