Car & Driver photographers had the opportunity to get up close and personal with the 2016 CTS-V, where they did us a service in recording its supercharged 6.2-liter V8 LT4 engine coming to life. Though we initially thought Cadillac would pair an exhaust that’s more (shall we say…) reserved in its tone, the LT4 in the new CTS-V seems to sound exactly like it does in the 2015 Corvette Z06.
For the uninitiated, Cadillac unveiled its 2016 CTS-V early Monday morning. It has a 640 horsepower 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, an eight-speed automatic transmission, Brembo brakes, adjustable magnetic ride control, an available carbon fiber aerodynamics package, and one of the loudest, best-sounding exhaust notes a four-door car can ever hope to have. And it does 0-60 in 3.7 seconds on its way to a 201 mph top speed.
We’re still crossing our fingers for a video of the new monster revving, but we’ll gladly take this indoor start-up… for now. Check it out in the video below.
