The 2015 Chevrolet Colorado pickup’s recent victory at the 2015Â Motor Trend Truck of the Year caught many critics by surprise, but not General Motors CEO Mary Barra. She knew it was a solid product all along and worthy of praise. Here is what she had to say about the Chevy Colorado winning the award.
Chevrolet and the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado winning the Motor Trend truck of the year is just such an accomplishment. It really represents the hard work of the men and women of General Motors have put into this truck.
When the team got together, they really looked to make sure they understand the customer for the mid-size truck and they went into detail. Understanding what they care about as it relates to the interior and the exterior. When you look at this truck it has superior power, payload and towing capability. It has 4G LTE connectivity inside the truck. It is just an outstanding truck in every dimension.
I think what I am most proud of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado is the fact the team really went in and made sure they understood the customer and then designed, engineered the vehicle and then are building the highest quality vehicle all with the customer in mind.

Amazing Ford put in all that time, effort, and money into the 2015 F150 and the Chevy Colorado wins truck of the year. Not to say GM did not do the same. I sat in one a few weeks ago and it was a very, very nice pickup. Not too big, not too small and great interior.
It remains to be seen if the Colorado is too big. I personally think it is. Since GM decided to abandon the standard 2-door cab configuration, there are many would-be truck owners who still can’t fit a modern truck into their old garages.
That is why cute utes sell so well — they still fit into garages, whereas automakers have bloated pickups too much to fit anymore.
