Craig Lowndes Takes Delivery Of His Special Edition Holden Commodore SS V

In September, Holden confirmed production of the Craig Lowndes Special Edition Commodore SS V, Holden’s way of marking the racing driver’s 20th year in V8 Supercars competition. Luckily for Lowndes, part of the deal consisted of him receiving his very own Lowndes special edition SS V, which he picked up from a dealer in Brisbane today.

Lowdes’ Commodore is the first Craig Lowndes Special Edition SS V ever, carrying build number 001 of 233 to be made. Holden says the limited run model has already attracted “strong interest from fans” with almost all 233 examples already accounted for by interested customers. The purchase of the car also includes a V8 Supercars experience with a Red Bull pit tour, tickets to a race and more.

“We have committed to building 233 of the Craig Lowndes Special Edition Commodore and have sold most of them already.  With V8 Supercar tickets, pit tours and invites to a Red Bull Racing private function included, this is more than just a car, it is an experience.” Holden executive director of sales, Peter Keley, said in a statement.

All Lowndes Special Edition Commodores will come with a 6.0-liter V8 engine, 20-inch wheels, Brembo brakes, Craig Lowndes’ signature on the dash, doors and trunk, andblack decals on the hood and roof. Both a six-speed automatic and six-speed manual transmission is offered, but Lowndes made the right decision and ordered a manual in his car.

Holden says to “contact your Holden dealer quickly” if you still wish to receive a Lowndes Special Edition Commodore.
