In a special ceremony that took place earlier this week, The National Speedway and Track Guide presented the National Corvette Museum’s Motorsports Park with “The Most Outstanding Facility of The Year” award at the 2014 Racing Industry Trade Show. Created by the Race Track Business Conference (RTBC), the award was presented last year to the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway, showcasing the high level of competition that the NCM Motorsports Park faced when it was in the running for this very special honor.

The award
NCM Motorsports Park General Manager, Mitch Wright, shared his thoughts on winning the award and praised the facility’s victory stating, stating: “We are honored to receive this award on behalf of motorsports enthusiasts. The NCM Motorsports Park is designed to be a world-class facility, and serve as a destination for corporate events, driver training and information, and recreational car and bike devotees.”
Meanwhile, Executive Director of the National Corvette Museum, Wendell Strode, shared his thoughts on the track’s potential to expand the museum experience as well as the Corvette enthusiast community, stating: “This track will compliment the activities of the National Corvette Museum. Many Corvette owners travel annually to Bowling Green Kentucky and this track will provide yet another reason to enjoy the area.”
“The NCM Motorsports Park is the next generation venue that meets the demands of automotive manufacturers and after-market performance entities”, said Racing Industry Trade Show organizer, Tim Frost. “Having a facility that is close to the Corvette assembly plant provides a unique opportunity for performance research and development.” The track, which was mostly completed earlier this year, offers enthusiasts a challenging yet controlled environment where they can learn to drive competitively or simply hone their driving skills. The facility’s many twists and turns also allow various automotive companies to conduct performance research.
The GM Authority Take
Congratulations to the National Corvette Museum and its Motorsport Park for building a great facility, and for the honors.
