Convincing LS1-Powered Lamborghini Diablo Replica For Sale: Craigslist Find

Are you the sort of person who wears fake brand name watches? Do you wear a Bluetooth in your ear when you’re not talking to anyone to seem important? Do you wear sunglasses indoors? If you answered yes to any of those questions, you might be interested in this 2000 Lamborghini Diablo replica powered by a 5.7-liter Chevrolet LS1 V8.

We’re not sure what compels anybody to build a replica supercar, as half the time the build costs seem so high you could have bought a pretty impressive car for the same price. But if for some reason you like being a total fraud, this replica Diablo kit car, which is apparently based on a Pontiac Fiero chassis, is currently for sale on Craigslist in Idaho for $48,900.

We have to hand it to the builder of this replica, as it’s actually pretty convincing. They would have had us fooled at a first glance, and the interior actually appears very well done. But that just raises the question of how much this all cost to execute. We have a feeling the owner of this car could have had a nicely equipped 2015 Corvette Z06 for the same amount of money, and he wouldn’t have to nervously try and explain to onlookers why his “Lambo” sounds like a pushrod Chevy.

If you want to waste your money and destroy your credibility at the same time, check out the listing here.

  1. What is curious; one Italian car that was “designed” by US

    Great Replica

  2. Not sure why this article-turned-editorial is so down on Fiero mods. It’s not like this is the first… and it’s not like Pontiac dealers weren’t happy to sell a Ferrari-spun Fiero back in the day.

Not all replicas are built to defraud. Some are just for fun. Anyone who thinks this is a real Diablo… I feel quite sorry for.

    1. Replicas, even “tribute cars” are intended to defraud and scam the public. They also fuel a means to deceive oneself and others by insisting on investing money into these objects that aren’t the genuine article. If want the real thing, get the real thing and don’t accept weak and inferior substitutes.

If you want a Fiero, get one whose body is unmolested and not wasted trying in vain to emulate another car.
If you want a Diablo, get one.
      It’s that simple.

      1. Maybe some cant afford the genuine item but love the true beauty of one. Nothing wrong with that. Only one person can own the real Mona Lisa but how many people, not to mention even museums a high quality print? Ssame thin in my book.

  3. Take a real diablo in for service then ask why.

  4. Has anybody ever seen the episode of Kit – An Autobody Experience which aired on Speed Channel that featured a Lamborghini Diablo replica kit matched against the real thing.

It showed and mentioned that the replicar was built on a Fiero and also mentioned that it cost 1/10th the cost of a real Diablo.

As expected, the Fiero with a stock 2.8 litre V6 motor got smoked at the drag strip, but held it’s own and won on a twisty road course when the Lambo owner missed a shift on the final straight .

When it came to public opinion based upon looks, the Fiero also won over many unsuspecting onlookers.

I’ve personally met two different Lambo owners who each have replicas of their respective Lambos and both said the replicas were nicer to drive — So don’t be such an insufferable git, Sam!
