The Chevrolet Corvette has always been an impressive value proposition, offering up supercar levels of performance for less than most luxury sedans cost. A used Corvette offers even better bang for your buck, a point proven by this mint 2001 C5 Z06 currently for sale on eBay in California.
The C5 Z06 was powered by Chevrolet’s 385 horsepower, 5.7-liter LS6 V8 engine and was only available with a 6-speed manual transmission. It was surprisingly fast, mainly due to the fixed roof Corvette’s low kerb weight, and could accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds and post an 11.8 second quarter-mile time.
This particular example was meticulously maintained and owned by a true car and Corvette lover, according to the listing. It comes with all service records and documentation (including the bill of sale) and has been garaged since new. Furthermore, the retired seller says he’s only driven it 3,000 miles every year, racking up 44,000 total miles.
Best of all? You could have this 11-second V8-powered sportscar in your garage for $19,490. Buy it as a late Christmas gift to yourself and start 2015 off right: behind the wheel of a Corvette.

I’d say that is well-priced, not a steal.
For comparison my Sky Red Line was $11,000 in similar condition with only 10,000 more miles. With GMPP tune 0-60 in mid-4’s.
ZR1 heritage is nice, but this is a 13 year old car with a 13 year old safety system. Priced appropriately, not a bargain.
Now if it was a C6… different story.
This is absolutely a performance bargain. Although its best to get the 02 to 04 models with 405hp. Also, the quarter mile is wrong. Fastest C5 Z06 times are around 12 but most fall in the 12.4 to 12.6 range. These cars were extremely well engineered and could handle better than any of their competition. And no offense, but a Saturn Redline couldn’t hold a candle to the Z06. After 60 it keeps pulling hard, a redline doesn’t. Plus there’s the glorious LS6 sound and aftermarket potential.
I disagree that it doesn’t hold a candle. The Z06 is the better performance car… but at nearly twice the price? I have to question this hitting the front page of GMA. It’s not exactly breaking news that a 13 year old Z06 is below the $20k barrier at this point.
Fair price…great car. I owned the first ’01 Z06 in Canada (torch on torch)…..afterward, I had two C6s and present C7. The ’01 Z06 was one the “most enjoyable/funnest” Corvettes I’ve ever owned. It took us from great white north to Galveston, Texas; Monterey, California; Hershey, PA NCRS road tours, and much, much more. Good memories !
