The C6 generation Corvette is one versatile machine. In some configurations, in can run a 7 minute and 19 second lap of the Nurburgring, and in others, it can run 6-seconds in the quarter-mile.
The C6 Corvette Z06 in the video below is set-up to achieve the latter of those feats. The Atomic Orange Vette has a 440 billet engine block with two Garrett GTX turbochargers, a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission and huge slick tires in the back with skinnies in the front.
As soon as we saw it we knew this car would be a monster in the 1320, but we didn’t fully grasp the scope of its performance prowess until it lined up at the tree. On its second run, the Corvette hooks up perfectly and delivers all 2000 horsepower directly to the ground. The result a 6.73 second quarter-mile with a trap speed of 224 mph.
It’s only a matter of time until the 2015Â Corvette Z06 posts its Nurburgring lap time and the drag racing guys get a C7 in the sixes, but we’re more than happy to watch the C6 do its thing in the meantime.
