You may have seen that yesterday, Chevrolet unveiled this rather, erm, narrow-purpose-built 2015 Silverado Polaris ACE+ concept at SEMA.
You know, because brand synergy.
A video was published yesterday on the Chevrolet Performance YouTube channel, cut together from Chevrolet’s live presentation of the concept truck. And indeed, as the Chevrolet presenter says in the video, the marque has a standing partnership with ATV-manufacturer Polaris; the latter uses a GM Ecotec engine to propel its new Slingshot three-wheeled motorcycle.
The Silverado Polaris ACE+ concept is actually quite cool, if you can get over the fact that it’s essentially a tiny, land-locked naval carrier with infotainment. As we’ve reported, it’s built on the 4×4 2015 Silverado with Z71 offroad package, with a concept performance air intake system. Power comes from the familiar Ecotec3 5.3 liter V8, although spent gases are voided via a concept performance exhaust.
“And how about those brakes?” says the presenter. He goes on to state that they were co-developed with Brembo, and the front calipers are huge 6-piston red units with broad 16-inch slotted rotors. We’ve actually met these brakes already on other concepts, such as the Tahoe Premium Outdoors and Silverado High Desert concepts, also unveiled yesterday.
If we had to pick out a new ATV hauler, given the stopping-power, performance, and looks of this Silverado Polaris ACE concept, it would be our first choice. But please, Chevy; keep the decals.
