Remember those 1:18 scale die cast models you had as a kid? If you’re a diehard car fanatic, you probably still have some on a shelf somewhere in your house or garage. But sometimes when you grow up a scale model isn’t enough. You need the real thing, and this eBay listing is offering up the perfect life-size toy for any true NASCAR fan.
The reason we’re touting this No. 48 Jimmie Johnson Chevrolet Impala from the 2010 season as a life-size model and not as a real racecar is its drivetrain was pulled before the seller acquired it. They’ve used it as a showpiece ever since, appreciating the piece of Hendrick Motorsports history that sits in their garage. However if you wanted to take it to the track, they say they’re in direct contact with people who can set it back up for racing use.
In 2010, Jimmie Johnson earned six wins, 17 top-fives and 23 top-tens. He also won his fourth consecutive NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship that year. It’s not clear how many of those victories happened behind the wheel of this car, but judging from the visible paint chips and scratches, we’re going to say this car saw a fair bit of action.
