Natural Gas Chevrolet Cruze, Sonic Approved By The EPA

Those looking to minimize their carbon footprints when driving will soon have two more options available; compressed natural gas conversions of both the Chevrolet Cruze and Sonic are imminent.

The conversions will be offered by a company called Crazy Diamond Performance. And, according to a release from the company, they have just received EPA approval on their retrofit systems for both, the 1.4 liter and 1.8 liter mills, found in the Cruze and Sonic.

Says Crazy Diamond Performance Inc. Executive Vice President Michelle Fern, “Soon to be available, are the 1.8L and 1.4L Cruze and Sonic CNG retrofit systems. These two vehicles represent a change in the status quo, with an OEM level integration of the fuel system and its components.”

The release goes on to quote a carbon dioxide emissions reduction of 25 percent, and a range of around 300 miles from a full 8.5 GGE tank (GGE stands for Gas Gallon Equivalent, as computed by energy content).

Shine On, You Crazy Diamond.
