Evidence Surfaces That GM Is Working On More New Truck Innovations With “Active Tow” Trademark Filing

General Motors has filed a trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for the term “Active Tow.”

GM Active Tow Trademark Filing

Filed on October 27th, 2014 and assigned USPTO serial number 86435070, the application lists the following Goods and Services description:

Computer software and hardware comprising video display panels, video cameras, and electronic controllers incorporated in motor land vehicles, for managing the attachment of the vehicles to trailers, and for automatically adjusting the transmission and brake systems of the vehicles and trailers.

The filing is the first unofficial but concrete proof that General Motors is working on a high-tech trailering attachment and management assistance system for its pickup trucks and SUVs, and we can’t wait to see how it works.

That would be, no,,, on your hopefully! you do know GM does have it’s own engineering dept.?
Just so you know, Ford (must have) caught wind of GM considering an all aluminum truck (in 2009), decided against it (for some reason), and (Ford) is now acting as the innovator!

    1. I’m not talking about the aluminum. Im talking about how the atlas concept have some kind of auto parking assist that would reverse itself to the trailers?

  3. Vic is correct Ford had a trailer backup assist for Atlas but it was not inlcuded on the F-150. The Atlas is not a F-150 specific concept. It’s Super Duty and F-150. The trailer backup assist is supposed to be on the new 2016 Super Duty.

    1. Which will find its way down to the F150
