Early last month, Chevrolet unveiled a very green special edition Camaro which had yet to receive a name. The automaker asked its customers and fans to submit their own designation for the car, which was wore the gorgeous Emerald Green color, and the winning designation for the special edition model was announced at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
Chevy chose Camaro fan Jason M.’s suggestion, “Green Flash.” It’s an appropriate name, and we’re not surprised Chevy warmed up to it easily, as it named its red special edition Camaro from the 2010 SEMA show “Red Flash.”
The Green Flash Camaro is available only as a 2SS model with the 6.2-liter LS3 V8 when paired with the six-speed manual transmission or the 6.2-liter L99 V8 when paired with the six-speed automatic. Apart from its Emerald Green paint, the car also receives Cyber Gray racing stripes, 21-inch Chrome Dusk Chevrolet Accessories wheels, a ZL1 rear spoiler, the RS appearance package, and a ground effects kit. The only interior color available is black with Graphite Silver trim. There’s also a sunroof, navigation, an available short-throw shifter and dual-mode exhaust.
Green Flash special edition Camaros will become available during the first-quarter of 2015. The car, along with Commemorative Edition Camaro coupe and convertible, will be one of the final special edition fifth-generation 2015 Camaros to be produced before the all-new Alpha-based 2016 Camaro model arrives. Pricing for the Green Flash has yet to be announced.
