A few days ago, we helped put your curiosity to rest by reporting on the leaked details of the Cadillac ATS-V, set to officially debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The lithe performance car will feature the very same 3.6 liter twin-turbo LF3 V6 as the CTS, and XTS Vsport. Horsepower is set at 450 steeds, with 445 lb-ft of torque.
But in assuaging your curiosity, we may have inadvertently whetted your appetites.
To rectify the situation, here is a brief video clip – directly from Cadillac – which give us our first taste of the ATS-V’s very palatable exhaust note. Gear changes in this car sound nice and crisp from the audio, showing off the car’s automated powershift feature – available with both the 6-speed manual, and the 8-speed auto.
But that takes a back seat to that torrential flurry of sound emanating from the Cadillac ATS-V’s quadruple exhaust tips. The 3.6 liter LF3 V6 in this car gains about 30 horses from the iteration found in the CTS, and it has a mighty soundtrack to match.

Terrible video, IMO. The car surely can’t sound that bad.
This is how it’s done: http://youtu.be/iItzJc-NHI4
Nothing exciting with that sound, nor was I expecting anything special, sound wise. Let’s be realistic, it’s a turbo V6, their is no magic, turbos kill sounds, especially in a V6. We just have to satisfy ourselves with the outrageous performance that is expected from this car, and live with the sound.
hmmm, well it’s definitely no inline six. I’ll wait and see what the aftermarket can do with the sound. Maybe if we’re lucky someone can bring out a crisp, mellow-deous, sound reminiscent of the Z32 (300zx) vg30 DETT’s bark.
IMHO the best sounding turbo v6; if there ever was one.
