Chevrolet recently unveiled its 2015 Colorado Performance concept at the SEMA show in Las Vegas, which was designed in collaboration with motocross legend Ricky Carmichael. We always get to see the finished result of these SEMA projects, but rarely do we get a glimpse at the thought and work that goes into them.
Carmichael flew out to General Motors’ design studio in Warren, Mich. to drive the 2015 Colorado and help finalize a design for his SEMA creation. Known as the Performance Concept, Carmichael’s Colorado features matte gray paint with yellow and gray graphics, off-road Goodyear tires and a concept bed storage system.
Chevrolet is aiming for the family focused, outdoorsy demographic with the Colorado, and Carmichael fits that description perfectly. His ideas may be a rough indication of what Colorado buyers may actually want to do with their truck, giving Chevrolet ideas for additional accessories in the future.

How many different versions of off road trucks are there? Every day there is a new one. Doesn’t anybody drive on pavement anymore? How about a Colorado version like the Silverado Cheyenne? For that matter where is the production version of the Cheyenne. My ’98 Sonoma extra-cab had the ZQ8 suspension and was fun to drive. Handled great. Where are the Xtreme versions?
