2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe: Hot Or Not?

We got our first real glimpse at the Cadillac ATS-V Coupe when it was spotted during a photo shoot ahead of its Los Angeles Auto Show reveal later last month. However we didn’t get an official, Cadillac-confirmed glance at the all-new BMW M4 fighter until yesterday, when official images of the car hit the web.

We have to admit, the ATS-V looks more aggressive than we thought it would. The mean front fascia has a consistent snarl, and that gaping lower grille looks ready to swallow up anything with an AMG or M badge that gets in its way. The Coupe’s sleek body adopts the V’s more aggressive rocker panels and rear diffuser pretty well, and that vertical spoiler lets everyone in the vicinity of the car know it means business.

If you like the looks of the standard ATS Coupe, it’s hard not to like those of the V. We could see it being a little too sporty/youthful-looking for some Cadillac, but that’s the name of the sport-luxury game, with the next-generation CTS-V likely having styling that’s just as aggressive.

Vote below on whether you think the ATS-V is hot or not, and let us know what changes you would make to the car, if any, in the comments.

  1. Extremely hot. Can’t wait for the CTS-V!!!!
I would only change that rear spoiler. It looks like it’s not for this car.

  2. It used to be that sedans wanted to look sexy like their coupe cousins. Now the coupes look like warmed over sedans. Come on GM design – do something drop dead gorgeous.

  3. It’s not a matter of looking too sporty, it’s that it still looks like a Cruse coupe. Only in this case, a Cruze Coupe RS. Hennessey Edition.

    1. Glad you think it looks like a Cruze (not Cruse). Why?

      1. The Cruze is one great-looking car
      2. The ATS has nothing to do with the Cruze.

  4. I’m wondering if Cadillac (or a Road & Track bigwig) got wind of the pictures, because now the link on the R&T webpage isn’t available. I love the car… and from what I saw, it looked as if a couple pictures may have been of a sedan. One photo of the cockpit showing what appeared to be 4 window buttons with what appeared to be a black bodied vehicle in the driver’s side rearview. If you look at the door sill/kickplate, you can see black paint as well. Does anyone else think they are pics of two cars, or am I crazy?

  7. I like the way the car looks, even though it doesn’t look nearly as mean as the CTS-V Coupe. I didn’t think I would like the ATS-V Coupe, but I do after seeing pictures. I would like to see it in a darker color as the silver looks too bland.

Why did they put the “ATS” and “V” badges on the rear decklid so high? Wouldn’t it make more sense to put them at the bottom corners of the decklid like the CTS-V Coupe. It looks odd, unless they are going for the Mercedes and BMW badge location. It looks out of place to me.
