2015 Chevrolet Silverado High Desert: Hot Or Not?

Chevrolet’s Silverado High Country offers pickup truck buyers a truck with a more luxurious and premium interior and a more upscale-looking exterior. Body color bumpers, a chrome grille and chrome 22-inch wheels set the High Country apart from standard Silverados, but what if you want a less-flashy, more-rugged look? Enter the Silverado High Desert.

The High Desert includes all the interior amenities of the High Country, including the saddle brown heated and cooled perforated leather seats, Bose premium audio, front and rear park assist and Chevrolet’s MyLink infotainment system with an eight-inch color touch screen. The only difference is the High Desert adds dark-tinted wood trim to the dash, doors and other parts of the interior.

The High Desert’s unique Deepwood Green exterior hue is complimented nicely with Oxide Gold and Russet accents. The High Country’s chrome door handles and mirror caps have been swapped out for color-matched ones, while the chrome grille has been replaced with a body color insert. There’s also a stylized sport bar in the bed, which appears similar to the Chevrolet Avalanche’s plastic bed bar.

On the performance side of things, the High Desert has an aftermarket exhaust system, Brembo six-piston brake calipers and 16-inch Brembo slotted rotors. Finally, Chevrolet designers added 22-inch wheels from the Chevrolet Accessories catalog and painted them in Oxide Gold with Russet accents to compliment the High Desert’s exterior colors.

We love the Deepwood Green exterior paint on the High Desert and think the Oxide Gold and Russet accents compliment the color perfectly. We’re happy to see the chrome grille, mirror caps and door handles gone in favor of classier body colored pieces and the Chevrolet Accessories wheels are also pretty attractive. We’re liking the subdued look, so we’ll vote ‘hot’ on this one. What about you?

  1. The gray plastic flying buttresses are back. Didn’t know anyone missed them.

  2. I think it is an interesting exercise. Personally I would prefer a body color bed cover instead of the raw plastics which require extra maintenance.

I colorized one for myself to compare black painted versus body color which got me to thinking that this could be an application of the ProTec bed and make that a fully integrated feature and not a “pickup with an add-on.”

  3. I like it as long as the box plastics are smooth and painted that color, like the last year or so of the Avalanche and like what the Cadillac’s had. The rough gray plastics of the original Avalanche were a pain to maintain against fading.

    Otherwise, looks sharp.

  4. Lose the goofy stuff on the back of the Cab and change the name and build it. This is a nice non chrome version and should sell well.

The name is more fitting for a real off road Raptor like truck not this.

This is neither High or Desert here.
