Earlier this month we shared with you photos and video of Chevrolet’s 2015 Corvette Z06 testing at the Nurburgring in Germany. The Velocity Yellow Stingray looked extremely quick through the ‘Ring’s various dips and turns, but then it crashed. The driver of that car will be a little less embarrassed now, because it appears a second yellow Z06 has had its nose pushed in.
The car was spotted travelling down the interstate near Chicago on the back of a flatbed by TopSpeed. Just like the Z06 that crashed earlier this month, this is a Velocity Yellow model with the optional Z07 package, which adds various aerodynamic elements, carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
The sharp-eyed reader who spotted this Z06 probably thought he was pulling up alongside a normal, non-damaged car until he arrived at the front clip, which was missing. The rest of the ‘Vette was damage-free, making us wonder if someone crashed this car and cracked the front bumper or if General Motors removed it on purpose.
The fact that the headlights are missing and the front fenders look a little beat up makes us lean more towards this car being crashed, probably by a Chevrolet engineer or employee. Members of the media have yet to get any seat time in the Z06 and few other people get the chance to preview cars before they reach customer hands.
If we really wanted to speculate, we’d say this is the exact car which crashed at the Nurburgring in Germany, which suffered damage only to its front end. We have no way of knowing for sure, but it seems like a possibility. After all, how many damaged yellow Z06s can there possibly be? Check out the photos over at TopSpeed and let us know what you think happened to this Z06 in the comments.

ahhaaa new corvette is no longer a simple car, and already needs serious practice and skill.
maybe it is the same car that was wrecked in Germany
Or maybe someone just wondered how it would look with a Camry front end
Hmmm…is there any tread on those tires? Looks like they have seen a lot of track time!
I think it Is simple that this is the car from Germany as it is all damaged right where the one in the video was damage.
Not sure what GM is doing with it. Odds are it Is going to a dismantler to be scrapped. We have a dismantler here in town that gets old test cars and prototypes from GM and other MFG that they have to video the destruction of the car.
The tires tell the tale of some laps at the ring would be my guess. I would think there would have photo’s of any other yellow Z06 crashed on the web by now if another one had bit the dust. Crashed C7 models do not escape the I phone much in crashes.
I would say the car was shipped back to the US. O’Hare might have been a better/cheaper flight back. Though you would think flying to Detroit would be better. In any case it looks like it is heading to Michigan. The wrecker has Michigan plates. Isn’t Road America kind of in that area? I know it is in Wisconsin. Seems to me there once was a road course in Northern IL. May be it was out testing and got a little messed up. Strange to see the plastic that looks like they were trying to keep water out of the car. Broken window? Looks like the towing company is Rubble? or Bubble?
Yes it is heading to Michigan. https://irp-cdn.multiscreensite.com/4cb9da87/dms3rep/multi/desktop/cropped_12051823_dm-logo-image_vJzd_vito2-792×440.jpg that is the towing company.
I find it curious as well why they have the Brembo calipers covered as well. Brake or caliper failure (cracking or utter disintegration) at high speed under heavy braking isn’t completely uncommon. Especially, with the added down force (if Z07 optioned). I’ve seen it happen on Corvette racecars. Brembo (Italy) would be really upset if GM got a faulty product. Still weird they have that part of the wheel covered with the wheel on the car. The cover is on all calipers.
The brakes covered could be as simple as they were testing brake calipers and did not want anyone to know what they were doing.
Could even be the pad material they were using. I would not read too much into that.
In the other video the brakes aren’t covered up at all and you can see them in full detail –
