This Chevrolet Z11 Racing Engine Costs More Than A Camaro 1LE: eBay Find

For $50,000, you could get a brand new 2015 Chevrolet Camaro SS with the 1LE performance package. But that would be too easy.

Instead, buy this monster of an aluminum Z11 racing engine on eBay (car not included). This V8 has an earth-shattering displacement of 540 cubic-inches – nearly 8.9 liters. The aluminum block comes from World Products, with aluminum Z11 racing heads from Rich Rojeski castings. John Beck Racing performed the complete engine build, and the motor has been dyno-tested to verify 869 peak horsepower at 7200 RPM.

The Z11 was a performance version of Chevrolet’s famous 409 engine available from 1961 through 1965. That Z11 had a cubic-inch displacement of 427 cubic-inches; obviously this custom build wins big in the size department. Besides all the custom, performance-rated internals installed, this motor is also fed by two four-barrel DOMX2 carburetors from Pro Systems (can’t go wrong with trusty carburetors).

Still leaning toward the 2015 Camaro SS 1LE? We can’t necessarily fault you, but if we had the resources, you know which we would rather have.
