GMC Will Soon Offer Four Special Edition Models For 2015 Canyon

Just as is the case with the full-size 2015 Chevrolet Silverado and 2015 GMC Sierra, as well as its brother, the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado, the 2015 GMC Canyon will soon roll out special trim levels and variants to broaden its appeal. And from what we gather (from dealership sources), there will soon be four different GMC Canyon styles to choose from outside the SLE and SLT trim levels between the 2015 and 2016 model years. They are as follows:

The Inevitable 2015 Canyon Denali

A 2015 GMC Canyon Denali (rendered above) has been hinted by executives and all-but-officially-confirmed. Like the Sierra Denali, look for body-color bumpers and mirrors, but with the signature chrome grille amplifying its presence. But it’s not just a Canyon with an appearance package. Look for the upcoming Canyon Denali to come with an exclusive powertrain, too.

A Functional “All Terrain Adventure” 2015 Canyon

The 2015 GMC Canyon launched with an All Terrain model. This is not that. A 2015 Canyon All Terrain Adventure is supposedly jam-packed with truck-bed accessories, like racks and mounts for your bike or ATV. Adventure’s out there.

A Blacked-Out “Midnight Edition” 2015 Canyon

The 2015 GMC Sierra has the Elevation trim level, which gives the full-size truck body-colored grille surround, color-keyed door handles, mirror caps, side moldings and front and rear bumpers and blacked-out wheels. Look for the 2015 Canyon Midnight Edition to offer something similar.

A Not-Quite-Denali 2015 Canyon SLT “Chrome” Edition

Because what’s a GMC truck without abundant chrome cladding? The tradition continues here.

  1. Let’s hope the Denali is also the 8 speed / L83 edition. That would make for a very impressive truck.

  2. I am sure one is the Denali but I would not hold my breath for a V8 I just don’t see that engine coming.

I just hope the other packages are more than just stickers and little paint.

I would like to see some real suspension hardware for off road and a 2WD ZQ8.

  3. I honestly think they should start putting proximity key fobs as well as push button start on the Denali trucks. I mean if you’re gonna pay 40-50k on Sierra or canyon (if there’s denali trim on canyon) then I think people would expect to have that std.

  4. Denali with 3.6TT and 8spd

  5. I went and saw the Canyon and Colorado. Both are a disappointment. I don’t find them to be mid-size. I found it easier to get into a full size Silverado with 20″ tires than a Canyon with 18″ tires. I really don’t like the looks of either one from the side. Even the sales guy said a lot of people are disappointed. I waited 2 years but I am not going to buy it. I will wait for the extended cabs to come out but I still don’t think I will do this as opposed to a Silverado. The mileage isn’t very different,

  6. I’d like to see a hardcore off-roader!!!

  7. I have a hard time seeing the L83 in these trucks, let alone an LV3. I’d like to see a new 2.8t V6 (330HP and 345LB-FT) based off of the Ecotec Gen lll (VVT, SIDI, and IVVL) architecture.

  8. You spelled “it’s” wrong in first sentence. Should be “its” in this case.

  9. I think the Canyon SLT should have front and rear parking sensors, a wiper de-icer grid, illuminated cup holders and GM’s eight speed transmission for the current price, and all Canyons should have the option of power retractable side steps instead of the useless steps offered now.

  10. Looked at a Canyon today…very disappointed with crew cab back seats…need 4-6″ of leg room and is hard getting into and want the seats to flip up and be able to put tools and toolboxes on a flat floor…the storage area under the seat is worthless to me…don’t like the goofy automatic shifter in the console and if anything would like a 5 spd manual available on a sle crew…seats can be a bit bigger too…i have a 2000 dodge dakota quad and am chopping at the bit to let go and buy something more exciting, but the Canyon is lacking in these areas and it may just not be a good fit for my 6’2″/ 210# frame and design taste and am not yet ready to part with my Dakota or my money. Will keep my 5 spd manual 2WD 3.9 L engine for now.

  11. 2016 Canyon Denali… (My dream specs for which I would pay a reasonable price): Auto or Full-time AWD, 8-spd, 5.3 with cyl deactivation and auto start / stop (keyless access with push button start… wake-up GM, Hyundai’s (among others) have been doing this on <$20k cars for years) and it's really convenient), 20" rims, heated and cooled seats, forget the seat vibration nonsense and use radar and cameras to adjust speed and steering angle like premium systems do… and bump the towing to 8,000 – 8,500lbs. Yes… a little direct, but if I'm going to drop $45-50k on a mid-sized truck, that's my right! 🙂
