Johnny O’Connell has done General Motors fans proud formerly as a driver for Corvette Racing driver and currently for Cadillac Racing. He recently made a stop at National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, and apparently he couldn’t resist taking his C7 to NCM Motorsports Park.
After lapping the track for the first time with General Manager Mitch Wright, O’Connell said, “This track is great. It is world-class, super-smooth, and challenging … it’s a track everyone should make plans to drive on. What was especially cool about it was how I recognized the features of Le Mans when I got to them. I know that was the objective when they were designing and building it, and as someone who has been there, I can say that they pulled it off.”
According to the Motorsports Park website, O’Connell likely will plan some track days of his own and wants to bring the Cadillac Racing team out for some testing.
O’Connell has earned championships for both Corvette Racing and Cadillac Racing, won at 12 Hours of Sebring a record eight times, and was the first American driver to win four class victories at 24 Hours of Le Mans.
