For the 2015 model year, Chevrolet introduced their unique Performance Data Recorder on the C7 Corvette Stingray. The system allows Stingray drivers to record their lap around a racetrack and add an overlay with vehicle telemetry data, which can then be easily viewed on the car’s 8-inch touch screen or uploaded online.
The idea behind the Performance Data Recorder may be to use it on the racetrack, but it also conveniently lets you record your daily commute to work or wherever else you and your Stingray go. It’s essentially a super fancy dash cam, so it was only a matter of time before someone picked up some on-road ridiculousness with the PDR.
One 2015 ‘Vette driver was cruising gingerly down the freeway with his PDR on in front of an 18-wheeler when the truck’s tire blew, sending shards of rubber flying at the C7. Luckily for the driver the left lane was wide open and he was able to quickly move over to avoid getting hit with any more shrapnel.
This video isn’t anything crazy, but the 2015 Corvette hasn’t been on sale for too long, so we can’t help but think plenty more wild PDR footage will surface in the future. This may only be the start of America’s version of zany Russian dash cam videos.

1 second following distance what a dumb ass.
Criminey, either speed up and get around it or back off.
