Chevrolet Wants You To Name This Special-Edition Camaro SS

National Name Your Car Day was yesterday, October 2nd, which is why Chevrolet is inviting enthusiasts to christen a special-edition Camaro SS that will debut at the SEMA 2014 show in Las Vegas next month. This new model, which features an exclusive Emerald Green Metallic exterior color plus other unique exterior elements, will arrive at Chevrolet dealers in the first quarter of 2015.
“Chevrolet has made a tradition of offering special-edition models each spring, but this is the first time we’ve turned to the community of Camaro fans to name it,” said Todd Christensen, Camaro marketing manager. “We can’t think of a better way to involve the owners and enthusiasts who have made it the segment’s best-selling sports car for four years running.”
This Emerald Green Metallic Camaro SS will be offered in both coupe and convertible models with 2SS trim and the following items:
- RS Appearance Package, which includes high-intensity discharge headlamps, light-emitting diode (LED) taillamps, RS-specific front upper grille, body-color roof moldings, and body-color antenna
- Chrome Dusk 21-inch accessory wheels (or, if you live outside the U.S., 20-inch polished wheels)
- Body-color SS hood extractor
- Body-color accessory ground effects package
- Body-color ZL1 rear spoiler
- Cyber Gray rally stripes
All cars will feature a black interior with Graphite Silver door panel and instrument panel inserts. Convertibles will receive a black top. Options include a sunroof, dual-mode exhaust (except for export models), navigation radio, and Chevrolet Performance short-throw shifter.
Of course, since it’s an SS, the is powered by GM’s 6.2L LS3 V8 putting out 426 horsepower with the standard six-speed manual transmission or 400 horsepower with the optional six-speed automatic transmission, which utilizes the 6.2L L99 V8.
