3000 Horsepower Corvette and Cadillac Drag Race: Video

In the video below, watch a Pro Line-powered Chevrolet Corvette C6 take on a Moran-powered Cadillac XLR on the dragstrip. Each car has twin turbochargers about the size of the moon, and each makes around 3000 horsepower.

Yeah, this is an epic battle.

Both the Corvette C6 and the Cadillac XLR have GM V8s at the receiving end of those huge twin turbos. In fact, the mighty Cadillac XLR was based on the Corvette C5, and its Northstar V8 shares the same basic block architecture.

There’s not much fanfare in the video preceding the launch; the two simply line up, receive some last-minute checks, and wait for the Christmas tree signal. The Corvette bests the XLR by a very slim .09 seconds, and both of them fly down the strip to reach a closing speed of over 185 MPH. Blink, and you’ll miss it.

This is some insanely impressive ballistics work. Now let’s see them turn a corner.
