1,400 horsepower. That number alone makes us think we need to take a trip down under. During a local dyno day in at Turbowerx Motorsports in Queensland, Graham Harrison’s Pontiac Firebird pulled a whopping 1,417-horsepower on the dyno.
The Pontiac sports twin Garrett GTX42 turbochargers, and bested 20 other cars who pulled on the dyno that day. Previously, Harrison’s Firebird employed a single Garrett GT55 turbocharger. The build was good for mid-sevens at 180 mph plus in the quarter mile, where a best time was run at Willowbank Raceway.
Other notable vehicles include a 1,136-horsepower XR6 Turbo, and a 1,031-horsepower XY Falcon. The Firebird is the real showstopper, though. The car looks like quite the handful, but nonetheless, an extremely fun track toy. It will very interesting to see what this Firebird on ‘roids will be able to do with this twin-turbo setup, compared to the previous single turbo. Be sure to watch for more coverage of this incredible quarter-mile time chaser.
