Two men accused of stealing a C4 Corvette in Hamtramck, Mich. almost managed to outrun the law, but couldn’t escape the sweet, sweet dose of karma that was coming their way.
Police received reports that a man was driving irresponsibly in a white Corvette and spinning his tires. When Police arrived on the scene, not far from the Hamtramck Polish Festival, the driver fled. It didn’t last very long and the Corvette slammed into a row of parked cars, seriously injuring the passenger.
“The driver actually got out and attempted to run but the officer quickly pursued him,” said Hamtramck Police Chief Max Garbarino. “Ultimately the driver and the passenger were transported to the hospital.”
“The passenger was in pretty serious condition.”
Garbarino said no one was in or around the parked cars when the driver slammed into them and that the “chase was a distraction from the polish festival did not disrupt it.”
To add insult to injury, this white C4 might be a Grand Sport. Yes, we know C4 Grand Sports were only sold in Admiral Blue with the signature white stripe, but this car appears to have late-model C4 vents like on the Grand Sport in addition to Grand Sport-looking wheels, though they could have been installed as aftermarket parts.
Comments
The GM Authority should know there’s no such thing as “Grand Sport side vents.”
You’re right. I should have said ‘late-model vents like on the Grand Sport’. Poor choice of words, it’s fixed.
1996 Grand Sports did not have unique side vents. This is a stock ’95 or ’96 Vette with aftermarket wheels.
Was this wreck on Carpenter Street? I could’ve sworn I’ve seen it on the way home from the festival. Police had the whole intersection blocked off and one of them acted like he had no idea what happened.
