Holden has been handed down multiple awards from Australian automotive publication Motoring.com.au as part of their annual ‘Recommends’ Awards, the Port Melbourne-based automaker announced today.
The VF Commodore received the ‘Family Car Over $30k’ award for the second year in a row and was praised for “its refinement and infotainment technology.” The Ute variation of the VF Commodore was also recognized as the best car in the ‘Tradie Vehicle’ category, representing a ‘winning expression of workhorse strength and tradie cool’. This year marks the first time the Commodore Ute has been included in the awards.
Additionally, the Holden Volt received the best ‘Green Car’ award, a designation it also earned in 2012 and 2013. Holden says the award “provides further evidence that the futuristic Volt remains a relevant and intriguing proposition years after its introduction to the Australian market.”
Motoring.com.au and carsales.com Editor-in-Chief, Mike Sinclair, explained how the ‘Recommends’ awards are chosen.
“Experience gained from new car launch drives, both local and abroad, seven-day real-world tests and longer-term reviews that replicate the ownership experience all go into our deliberation,” said Sinclair. “The cars we choose are the best in their respective segments and represent great buying choices for new car shoppers.”

I’d be at the dealer tonight if they sold Utes (El Camino) in the US! Sales are down over last year so think out of the box GM, sell em here.
Me too. I still think it is a mistake to let this go away and not offer it in the US, or to have even tried.
Build some RHD half-ton Silverados and Sierras with optional turbo diesel and we might be able to do a swap. 😉
