This Is The Chevrolet Cruze Classic

Meet the Chevrolet Cruze Classic. Essentially the first-generation Cruze sedan with a few minor nips and tucks to its body, the Cruze Classic is on sale only in China, slotting in under the all-new D2XX-based 2015 Cruze Sedan.

From what we know so far, the Cruze Classic is offered with a single engine — a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated inline-four mated to either a manual or automatic transmission.

Chevrolet Cruze Classic Pricing
MODEL PRICE (RMB) PRICE (USD CONVERTED)
1.5SL MANUAL: 99,900 16,248
1.5SE MANUAL: :109.900" 17,875
1.5SE AUTO 119,900 19,501

In China, the practice of keeping the outgoing generation of a vehicle upon the introduction of a new one is very common, as it allows automakers to reach a lower price point with the older model. General Motors prominently does this with the Buick Excelle family of compacts, offering the highly-popular “original Excelle” sedan alongside the newer Delta-based Excelle GT and Excelle XT (in essence, the Buick Verano/Opel Astra Sedan and Opel Astra Hatchback, respectively).

  1. I saw this and was wondering if our current Cruze is going to be on sale along side the new 2016 model much like when the Malibu got redone? Also wouldn’t it have been better for GM USA to have done this for our 2015 refresh before the all new 2016 comes around in a year from now, not the nose job we just got on the old one? Just a couple of questions is all.

    1. If you look closely, you’ll see that the 2015 North American Cruze (the facelifted one) actually has some minor styling cues from the all-new D2XX model (like the LED accents in the front), something that the Cruze Classic lacks. That’s why I believe that the point of the facelift is to introduce some of the design of the new model.

    2. GM USA is going to do the same thing. They are going to sell the facelifted Cruze as a 2016 Chevy Cruze Limited side by side with the All new 2016 Chevy Cruze.

  2. Amazing how many “classic” cars live on in China. The Buick Excelle & VW Jetta do the same thing.
I wonder if this trend of double offerings, of a Cruze “line” could ever happen here. Impala does this for fleet with the old W body, tried with 04 Malibu; however, the trend has never really caught on YET.
